Counselling & Psychotherapy

Having studied Integrative Counselling I have had experience working with both adults and children. Psychotherapy is a space where the client can come with various reasons in need of discussion from relational problems, to attention, to anxiety or depression. Whatever is currently weighing on you, we will explore it together and I will ask questions in a way we can understand where it is coming from, how you feel about it, and if you would like to do something about it.

I have worked therapeutically with:

  • Addiction

  • ADHD

  • Anxiety

  • Cancer survivors

  • Couple Conflict

  • College Students

  • Cultural Issues

  • Domestic Violence

  • Depression

  • Grief and loss

  • Infidelity

  • LGBT communities

  • Life Transitions

  • PTSD

  • Personality Disorders

  • Relationships

  • Self-identity

  • Sexual Issues

  • Trauma

Soft Skills Training

Soft skills are non-technical skills that are used in our interaction with others. Unlike hard skills, they're not necessarily something you'll learn in a course. Instead, they reflect your communication style, work ethic, and work style. I have experience in delivering workshops and training varying from a Pair to a group of 100 participants. Mapping out together what your needs are, as well as your aims and goals for this could lead us to a understand better what kind of skills you would like to enhance. I have delivered on various topics including:

  • Teamwork

  • Teambuilding

  • Team roles

  • Assertiveness and Habit formation

  • Boundaries

  • Conflict in Groups

  • Empathy and active listening

  • Effective Communication

  • Feedback

  • Fostering Group Trust and Safety

  • Goal Setting

  • Group Dynamics

  • Growing up in a residential setting

  • Values and attitudes

  • Self - awareness

  • Self - Compassion

  • Intimidation

  • Queer Identity

Expat Counselling

Whether its navigating intercultural relationships, adjusting to culture, dealing with loneliness, job culture or unemployment, dealing with ADHD or exploring your own sexuality or gender identity doing so can already be emotionally taxing on an individual, being an expat adds that extra layer of stress. This is why life transitions are taken into consideration during counselling sessions

Couples Counselling

Couples counseling is a valuable service for those who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship. Whether it's communication issues, infidelity, or simply feeling disconnected, counseling can help you work through your problems and strengthen your bond. If you're in your relationship, seeking the guidance of a professional counselor can provide you with the tools and support you need to overcome your challenges and build a happier, healthier partnership.

About Me

Whilst I have had training in integrative counselling, equipping me with different approaches, skills and schools of taught I believe client-centred therapy has been a great influence in my approach. The reason being is that I believe that the client is best able to decide what to explore and how. It is my belief that the client is the expert of their own life, and in the therapy room we are simply opening up perspectives, assumptions, patterns and emotions and exploring them together. The basis of this approach also deals with our own self-identity which is central in our journey of life.

Education

2018-2022

Masters In Integrative Counselling
University of Malta

My Master's in Integrative Counselling Therapy is a graduate-level program designed to prepare students for careers as professional counselors or therapists. Integrative counseling therapy combines various theoretical approaches and techniques from different counseling modalities to tailor treatment to the individual needs of clients. This program  covered several areas, including counselling theories varying from Rogers, Maslow, Winnicott, Perls, Pavlov and many more, how to implement therapeutic techniques, debating ethics and professional standards, becoming culturally competent, and critically conduct research . Through 600hours of practicum including client therapy, supervision, peer supervision, personal therapy and CPD I was able to work with a diverse range of clientele using different approaches based on the clients needs. In my final year I submitted a 21,000 word thesis focusing on Sexual Desire on Long-Term Diverse Couples.

2013-2016

Bachelor of Psychology
University of Malta

The Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) course is a full-time course, which includes a number of compulsory core study-units in Psychology and a number of elective study-units. By studying this area of wellbeing, I learned about key movements, concepts, schools of thought and historic figures who have contributed to the field of Psychology as we know it today. I became knowledgeable on psychologists such as Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung and Erik Eriksen, and apply concepts from areas like psychoanalysis, humanism and child development in real life case studies. In my final year, I was able to demonstrate my acquired knowledge by carrying out a research-based dissertation focused on Openness Of Casual Sex and Promiscuity.
